I received word that the Government is negotiating a bill, this time international. Behind Closed Doors. This bill will affect most every portion of trade, but there is one chapter we need to have a healthy fear of. That chapter is called Intellectual Property Enforcement. Why is this a chapter we need to fear for us internet users? Well, if this bill gets passed, you may as well say goodbye to the internet.
I say this because the public didn't know about this until recently. The Big wig corporations, on the other hand completely agree with this. This chapter pretty much gives Freedom of Free Speech a kick in the testicles, a punch the the face, and leaves it in the dust to be left for dead (okay that part was a little over dramatic, but I believe you get the point). It makes fan-art, downloading music, fan-made content, and many other items illegal. Many are paying Policy makers that more aggressive, draconian copyright laws will promote creativity and more jobs.
Do you think so? I don't, and many people don't think so either.
If this get's passed, customer support won't be customer support anymore, it'll be customer security. This will allow big corporations to treat ordinary citizens like criminals.
If you want to help. The best way to arm and prepare yourselves is to get the facts. I've only given you a little bit. Here are the links.
